Request: Dr. Hendrix sought an interactive web-based program designed to allow students to utilize information from lectures and make clinical judgments on artificial cases, in hopes of improving her students' problem solving and clinical performance skills. Each case covers a disease process in a veterinary patient, including age and breed of the patient, a clinical photograph, examination findings, differential diagnoses, differential etiologies, diagnostic tests, therapy, and pathogenesis. (2002)

Solution: Interactive web pages are created by executing PHP scripts from within a web browser that reads information stored in a MySql database. This information is uploaded by Dr. Hendrix through web forms also written in PHP. Therefore, she did not have to learn html, ftp, database implementation or programming code to maintain this site.
