IT570 - Instructional Systems Design
Assignment: Identify an instructional "problem" in an area that you have
little expertise. Following good principles and application of the instructional
design process, develop a print based unit of instruction to solve this problem. Working
with a subject matter expert (SME) is required. The project must consist of two sections.
The first section contains the documentation, the plan for the unit of instruction.
The second section is the instructional unit itself. (Fall 2002)
Project: My "virtual" company, Take a Hike, is located in Knoxville, Tennessee and
sells hiking accessories. Results from
a store survey suggests that their customers would be interested in renting hand
held navigational units, GPS's, to be used when hiking. The manuals that come with
most units are lengthy and difficult to read. Thus, customers requested that some
basic training on the units be provided at the store. My instructional unit provides for
such training on the Garmin eTrex Vista GPS.
