Request:
The Center for Industrial Services (CIS) asked the ITC to update two websites within
their responsibility. The structure and navigation of the sites were not as strong as
they needed to be to distribute all their content.
In addition, they requested a database component
to better serve their client needs for an improved exchange of manufacturing materials
known as the Tennessee Materials Exchange (TME) and for information about companies that
purchase recyclable materials known as the Recycling Markets Directory
(RMD). (2003-2004)
Solution: This project was a collaborative effort of several ITC staffers.
The information
architecture was improved upon
and a new interface design was provided. As the lead
programmer, I was responsible for the web forms and the database backend for both TME
and RMD. From within
their browsers, users can upload data and search for materials. Automatic email, contact,
newsletters and follow-up forms and letters are automatically generated.
